WELCOME TO THE COMPANY OF THE FATHERS!

This blog is for those who are reading together Philip Schaff's 38-volume Early Church Fathers set. All who are participating in the read will have access to the blog to post comments, thoughts, and questions about the reading; it will serve as a record of our progress through the Fathers.

It's called The Company of the Fathers because we are a company gathered, in spirit at least, for the purpose of pursuing the study of the wisdom in the writings of the early church fathers. We are the Fellowship of the Fathers. The username of this blog is "societaspatrum", which means the same thing: "societas" means "alliance or partnership, fellowship or communion, joint pursuit, etc." and "patrum" is the genitive plural of "pater" "father", so "of the fathers".

If you do not yet have the set, you can read it online at http://www.ccel.org/fathers2/ Of course, this is highly unsatisfactory and you'll want to get the print set. You can buy it here at Christianbook.com for about $220 at the time of this writing. It's worth every penny.

If you have any difficulties, email me at schola@turbonet.com
